TEKFESTIVAL www.tekfestival.it VENERDI 6 Maggio, ore 18:00 FRIDAY 6th of May, 06:00 pm Cinema Labirinto Via Pompeo Magno 27, Roma. PHAG OFF - RAPPRESENTAZIONI METROSESSUALI NELLA CINEMATOGRAFIA CONTEMPORANEA. La sezione indaga tutte quelle produzioni cinematografiche indipendenti che intendono proporre uno sguardo prismatico, sperimentale, di conflitto, di avanguardia, di frontiera, sui concetti di identità di genere e di orientamenti sessuali contemporanei. La rassegna va a fare una sintesi dei contenuti affrontati e delle reti di relazioni internazionali - con un rapporto di scambio con il festival Gender Bender e un link specifico con la cinematografia indipendente canadese - costruite nell'arco di ogni anno dal progetto Phag Off focalizzandosi sul concetto di queer come doppio sguardo: penetrazione e critica dei rapporti di potere della comunità G.l.b.t.; attenzione alle nuove riflessioni, rappresentazioni e pratiche di desimbolizzazione del corpo e del desiderio. Le idee di confine, frontiera, e conflitto sono qui sviluppate con un forte accento provocatore, ironico, dissacrante, pornografico e politicamente scorretto per decostruire certe forme di buonismo ideologico e didascalico inerenti a politiche di genere e sessualità andate via via cristallizzandosi. Phag Off accende di luce visiva quelle zona invisibili, quegli scenari motruosi, quei panorami devianti che non si riconoscono nel gay mainstream e che vivono l'identita' come un bastone tra le ruote dei processi di liberazione. PHAG OFF - METROSEXUAL REPRESENTATIONS IN THE CONTEMPORARY MOVIE AGE. The "Phag off" section develops a path through all the independent movie productions whose interest is to propose a prismatic, experimental, conflictual, vangardist and frontier perspective about contents like gender and sexual orientations historically contextualized in the contemporary moment. This visual space is proposed as an annual syntesis of all the contents and the networks elaborated inside Phag Off with a special focus on the Canadian independent movie scene and with a special link to the “Gender Bender Festival” in Bologna. Phag Off proposes this work with a queer/underground perspective as a double approach: Critical penetration of power relationships inside the G.l.b.t. community; accent on body and desire representations and desymbolization practices. The ideas of boundary, frountier, conflict are “shooted” with a strong provocative, ironical, politically uncorrect, iconoclastic approach to deconstruct some ideologies substained by a new g.b.l.t./gendered moralism based on the istituzionalization of gender and sexual orientation political conflicts. Phag Off is interested in shadows, this is why it lights with a visual projection all the invisible zones, the freak scenarios, the deviant imaginaries that do not recognise themselves in the gay mainstream and that lives identity as a break imposed to liberation processes. I suoi video sono stati presentati in lungo e in largo in tutto il mondo. Uno dei sui lavori più significativi è stato presentato al MOMA con il titolo Video Viewpoints. Successivamente e’ stata la volta della sua istallazione “Satellite” che ha fatto il giro del mondo. Nelson ha collaborato insieme a Steve Reinke ad una collection video intitolata "By the Skin of Their Tongues: Artist Video-Scripts". Molteplici sono i suoi interventi video, musicali e letterari nei circuiti dell’Arte contemporanea come nei circuiti queer, spesso musicando l’azionismo estremo di provocazione del performer Pierre Beaudoin, suo attuale compagno. Nelson Henricks lives and works in Montreal. Henricks is best known for his videos, which have been presented around the world and most recently at the MOMA, in the series Video Viewpoints. His biggest video work who did the round of the world is entitled “Satellite”. Henricks co-edited a collection of artists' scenarios entitled "By the Skin of Their Tongues: Artist Video-Scripts" with Steve Reinke. Sometimes he works sonorizing and porducing music ofr his partner the radical performer Pierre Beaudoin, acting in Art istitution and in the queer circuits in the same time. SATELLITE Nelson Henricks, Canada, 2004, 6', Beta SP Satellite ha fatto il giro del mondo, partendo dal museo delle belle arti contemporanee di Montreal. Il video è basato sul concetto di ritmica e simultaneità costruendo la narrazione su uno schermo splittato in due. Le immagini raddoppiate viaggiano in una sequenza quasi, ma non esattamente simultanea. L’elemento di comunione è un breakbeat in 4/4 costruito su campionamenti ironici di materiale video di ricerca dei documentari delle scuole elementari canadesi. Il focus del corto è la percezione, che viene anche rappresentata da una viaggio anatomico del funzionamento dell’orecchio in tutta la sua gloria cartilaginea rosa rappresentata dal modernariato visuale anni 50 come linguaggio dell’immagine che Henricks ha scelto di usare. Satellite is a video art installation wich did the tour of the world starting form Montreal Museum of contemporary arts. The video is based on the concept of rhythm and simultaneity building the plot on a splitted screen. The images are doubled and travels in a sequence which is almost, but not simultaneous. the communion element si a 4/4 beat built up on ironical sampling of video material researched through on vintage documentaries used in Canadian elementary schools. the focus of the video installation is the perception wich is represented by an anatomical travel through the work of the ear. HANDY MAN - HOMME A TOUT FAIRE Nelson Henricks, Canada, 1999, 11', Beta Sp Handyman esamina le forme di sorveglianza e di voyerismo contemporaneo. Con la sua Telecamera Super8 Nelson Henriks documenta un ragazzo in fase di masturbazione rubandone gesti, intimità e piaceri. Questo video cerca di coinvolgere lo spettatore in un processo di continuo esibizionismo e feticizzazione dell’immagine. “Homme tout a Faire” è parte di una trilogia che lavora su una delle principali metafore del rapporto tra video e voyeurismo; la finestra. Handyman examines the idea of video as a form of surveillance and voyersm. With his Super8 handycam Henriks catches a guy in a moment of intimate masturbation stealing his gestures, intimacies and pleasures. This video tries to involve the spectator in a continuous exhibitionistic process with the fetishization of the image. “Homme tout a Faire” is part of a trilogy which works on one of the basic metaphores of the relationship between video and voyerism: the window. SS-SUNDA Oltre ad occuparsi di filmetti porno-splatter, scrive e disegna anche fumetti porno-splatter. Il suo primo lavoro in video risale al 1999, l'ultimo, il mediometraggio Flesh Doll Operetta, è invece stato ultimato nel 2001. Attualmente sta chiudendo la sceneggiatura di un lungometraggio, il cui titolo di lavorazione è Macho Mask: the macho pride. Cotoletta Attivista Pink, coivolta in più realtà movimentistiche sull’uso critico dei media che si oppongono alle nuove forme di potere contemporaneo. Ha prodotto il suo primo cortometraggio dedicato al movimento pink. Pink activist involved in the neoglobal movement promoting the critical use of media opposing to the new forms of power expression. This is her first short movie dedicated to the pink movement. PINKORPS Italia, 2004, 5', Dv Cortometraggio di diretta provenienza dal blocco pink, o dalla "macchia rosa", come gli stessi attivisti preferiscono definirsi, ideata come la frangia più creativa dei movimenti di contestazione contemporanea. Il video ripercorre soprattutto la prima uscita del pink bloc contro l'arrivo di Bush a Roma nel Giugno del 2004. Short Movie straight from the Italian Pink Bloc scene, the most creative wave of the movement against the contemporary power balances polarizing post feminist and queerious groups around prankester strategies based on tools like body and desire. This video is the witness of the action made by the pinks during the demonstration against bush happened in Rome last June. BRUCE LABRUCE Bruce LaBruce è un regista nonché sceneggiatore e scrittore indipendente le cui produzioni hanno avuto un'attenzione di pubblico internazionale. Le tematiche affrontate da LaBruce attraversano quella terra di mezzo tra cultura queer, immaginari controculturali e sperimentazione avanguardista. Films come “No skin off my ass” e “ Super 8 ½”, “Hustler white”, sono delle pietre miliari della produzione cinematografica indipendente mondiale ed hanno fatto il giro di tutti i festival gay e lesbici internazionali a partire da Toronto. LaBruce - a self-described sexual revolutionary who launched the homocore movement in Toronto in the late ‘80s in response to the homophobia of the punk rock scene - decribes The Raspberry Reich as “a critique of terrorist chic“. His most famous films are “Hustler White“, about male prostitutes and “Skin Flick“, about neo-Nazi skinheads. Each of the movies examines identity politics, emphasizing that homosexual identity is fluid and can be separated from a strict gay politics. THE RASPBERRY REICH Germania, 2004, 90', 35 mm Ambientato a Berlino, Raspberry Reich racconta le speranze e le contraddizioni di un gruppo berlinese, che teorizza la liberazione delle masse dall'oppio dei popoli dando vita ad un'intifada queer guidata dalla bionda (ed eterosessuale) Gudrun. Anima politica dell'organizzazione, ispirata nei suoi slogan dagli scritti di Wilhelm Reich ed Herbert Marcuse, la disinibita leader rivoluzionaria sogna la fine della monogamia, ostacolo borghese cui ironicamente sarà la prima a non rinunciare. Ispirandosi alle istanze del movimento di liberazione sessuale degli anni '70 ed alla storia dell' estrema sinistra, La Bruce riconquista e aggiorna il potenziale sovversivo di quella visione: "È vero che sono molto affascinato dalle idee di quegli anni, forse proprio perchè la sensazione è che oggi tutto sia ripiombato in un clima di estremo proibizionismo". La mia è una critica benevola a tutti i movimenti radical chic. Il regista di classici queercore come Skin Flick e Hustler White ci offre un film estremo ed eccitante, divertente e militante, con una colonna sonora che farà ballare sulle poltrone. E dichiara: "Ho voluto realizzare un saggio godardiano in cui la sessualità torna ad essere, come negli anni Settanta, l'unica vera forma di lotta e di emancipazione". The Raspberry Reich is a film about „radical chic“, specifically the phenomenon of the modern left in Germany adopting the signifiers and postures of extreme left wing movements of the seventies, particuarly the Red Army Faction, also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang. In the meantime, the leader of the Raspberry Reich, Gudrun, a charismatic young woman who has patterned herself after Gudrun Ensslin, one of the main members of the Baader-Meinhof Gang, is indoctrinated the other members of the gang to her cause. Gudrun, a strict devotee of Wihelm Reich and Herbert Marcuse, believes that heterosexual monogamy is a bourgeois construct that must be smashed in order to achieve true revolution. To that end, she forces her straight male followers to have sex with each other to prove their mettle as authentic revolutionaries. Burce Labruce affirm that:” The Raspberry Reich is an art/porn film that, like all my films, uses pornography as a starting point to examine sexual politics and homosexual radicalism”. La rassegna è dedicata al mondo degli Orsi e alla visione che il cinema indipendente canadese e spagnolo produce su di essi; excursus profondo e sfaccettato, all'interno di una cultura omosessuale che si esprime intorno alla definizione e rappresentazione e alla de-simbolizzazione di genere maschile attraverso una serie di codici estetici, culturali, sociali e sessuali.
